Professional massage & bodywork in Pittsburgh, PA

Have you tuned out the messages your body is sending you?

The culture we live in today often demands that we push through pain, fatigue, anxiety, and depression. We learn to ignore our stress, our aches, our exhaustion. By the time there is a moment to relax, our body has become such an uncomfortable place to be that we turn to distractions instead of feeling everything we've suppressed. The louder it gets, the less we listen...

Massage bridges the gap between your awareness and your physical self. As your attention is turned to an area of issue, it is soothed simultaneously -- allowing you to tune back in at a more comfortable volume.

You will leave my studio feeling grounded, connected, and whole, like someone pressed the reset button.

Nervous System Regulation

If you're suffering from anxiety, depression, or burnout -- getting out of your thinking-brain and into your feeling-body can help immensely. Massage has been shown to decrease stress hormones like cortisol while increasing the production of feel-good neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. It also engages the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation.

Injury Rehabilitation

When your body is healing an injury, it responds by creating new cells to replace the damaged ones. Some of these new cells are collagen cells. Collagen is super strong so it makes sense why your body would use it. But commonly, these cells are created in excess, causing a build up of scar tissue which can lead to pain, rigidity, and a decline in overall function. Massage can help break up this scar tissue while decreasing fluid retention in the area, promoting blood flow, and improving cellular waste removal.

Athletic Optimization

Many people split athleticism into two categories: cardio and strength. But there is a third, equally important category: mobility. Massage positively affects range of motion by breaking up adhesions and deactivating trigger points. It also increases perfusion of blood and fluids to the muscle tissue, which can significantly decrease recovery time by removing cellular waste such as lactic acid while bringing oxygen rich blood to the muscle.
